Gurkha officer reaches South Pole and makes history
You can try your hand at all sorts in the Army, but there aren’t many who set their personal sights as high as Lieutenant Scott Sears, of the First Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles.
In December last year he completed the 702-mile trek to the South Pole in just 38 days, beating his target of 40 to 50 days.
In doing so he became, at 27, the youngest person ever to reach the bottom of the world, raising £37k for the Gurkha Welfare Trust in the process.
